Long before the AMC name existed, a young Mr. Mela Ram — still in his late teens — took his first steps into the spice trade in Gujranwala, earning his livelihood sourcing and selling raw spices. It was humble work, but it carried the same values of honesty and quality that would come to define three generations after him.
Partition forced the family to leave everything behind in Gujranwala. Undeterred, Mr. Mela Ram and his son resettled in Delhi and re-established their trade at Khari Baoli — Asia's largest wholesale spice market — laying the foundation on which a formal enterprise would soon be built.
At the remarkable age of just 13, Mr. K.R. Ahuja — our Founder — formally established what would become the Ahuja Masala Company. He sourced raw spices directly from the market, hand-processed them into fine powder, and personally hauled cart-loads through the streets of Delhi to reach his earliest customers. It was an extraordinary act of enterprise, discipline, and grit — the cornerstone on which the entire organisation stands today.
Mr. Anand Ahuja, Mr. Vikram Ahuja, and Mr. Gautam Ahuja joined the family enterprise, bringing structure, ambition, and modern business discipline to an operation built on tradition. Under their combined stewardship, AMC evolved from a respected neighbourhood name into a serious wholesale institution serving businesses across the region.
Nearly a century since that first trade in raw spices, AMC's fourth generation now guides the business — custodians of a founding discipline that has never wavered, serving retailers, distributors, food service businesses, and bulk buyers on a Pan-India scale, and exporting authentic Indian spices globally.
